Black and White

Black and white “Tube Bead” from Club Creative Studio

Club Creative Studio is no doubt in love with creating art items using bright and vivid color combinations.  However, this does not mean that anything created in neutrals of black and white are tossed to the side.  NOOOOO, far from that idea.  I also create using black and white in polymer clay and glass.

I love creating in black and white because of the contrast it lends us visually.  Black happens to be my “favorite color” so, to combine black with any other color is always aesthetically pleasing  to me.  I use black to define and separate areas.  The outlines become just as important that the other elements in my clay bead designs.

Club Creative Studio creates one-of-a-kind art. This is a hand-made necklace featuring a hand-designed black and white crystal pendant with unique elements.

The stark contrast when using black and white draw our eyes into focus of the division of shape and that seems to attract and keep our attention.

Club Creative Studio creates black and white beads for high contrast focal beads.

I am blogging about black and white today because it is “Cow Appreciation Day” today.  Being from the midwest, cows are pretty important.  I will celebrate them today by creating more black and white beads to match the common milk cow, and the abilities of black and white in art to stand out from the ordinary.  Do you like black and white contrast colors together?  What do you like about black and white accessories?

The next time you see someone wearing items that are designed in black and white, try to determine why you are drawn to that combination.  They are striking for sure.

Club Creative Studio: Creative Clay Beads

Collection of Club Creative Studio hand-rolled clay beads.

Club Creative Studio creates hand-rolled, polymer clay beads that are one-of-a-kind.  Each bead is created from thirteen separate steps to complete each individual final item.  I also hand-slice the designs from canes or hand-rolled and layered logs created from the hand-conditioned clay.

Each bead basically consists of layers upon layers of clay and each section is applied by hand.

To make each bead even more unique, I limit the particular color and designs to no more than the count of fifteen beads total from the same cane.  Many designs are made in a lesser count and all are not created again in the same manner once they are made into a batch.

The penny coin shows the size comparison of these smaller beads.

Each batch is baked according to manufacturers recommendations and they are then decided upon if they will remain a non-gloss texture or require a hand-glossed and polished finish.

At first glance many think these beads are painted. They are not painted, the designs are created by layering clay.

I create beads from my hand-mixed colors that ensure that no one else will have the same color combinations, the colors are all unique and I experiment with matching and creating new tints from an endless supply of inspirational colors from nature, and man-made items like fabric and items that are around me.

I also just mix colors “by feel” whatever feels right to combine, I add a pinch here and there.  I don’t have formulas or measurements to create my color palates. I just “go for it”, and combine colors that feel and look pleasing.

I have unlimited possibilities of design when I work with polymer clay.

I hope you have enjoyed viewing a few photos of thenumerous batches of finished hand-made beads, I have created.  I enjoy taking photos of beads in this stage to show the steps taken from the start of a single bead in a collection used to incorporate into a finished art form.  Enjoy the different styles and designs- remembering that all were created in batches that include love…the love of bead-making, the love of variety and the love of creativity in creating beads from clay by hand.

I love to create colors that are reflective of nature, fashion-forward trends, traditional and inspired from custom requests.

From “Junk” To Jewerly

3 Jul

Club Creative Studio loves an artistic challenge.

Looking at items in a different way opens doors to creative thinking and possibilities.  Yesterday on my way home from a run, I found a few unrelated yet wonderful items that I just knew I could combine and connect in some manner.  It seems that if I can’t make jewelry from items, I want to at least do something else creative with it. I picked these items off the street as misplaced “junk” and knew that with a little TLC, it could be turned into jewelry.  As I looked at the findings for a split second,  I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to try using the old discarded metal spoon and the glass heart fob.

I thought this project topic would make a great TWO-CENT TUESDAY post since the found components were very low-cost… FREE from my discovery. As soon as I picked up the items I thought: “Finders…Keepers”, what a lucky day for me to have an opportunity to turn junk into jewelry. Although they were random items to find on a street, I thought that  I found real TREASURES!  And FREE to boot!

Finding materials that are uncommon or are actually considered to be “found” objects are great because you can’t beat FREE! Plus, it pushes your imagination to be creative.  To put strange and unrelated items together is the ultimate challenge to figure out how to take something low-cost and turn it into something of actual worth or visual value to someone.

Looking at a spoon and a glass fob like these, would you know what you would initially do with them to transform them into a new and useful item?  Happily, I share what I did as I envisioned using these items to make another unique one-of-a-kind jewelry art piece.  What do you think of stage two?  I added wire and glass beads to the end section of the spoon.

with a few more additions, I was able to complete my necklace.  Using red and white hand-rolled clay beads, additional glass beads, a few formed glass heart beads and silver-tone findings and charms, the necklace is now a unique item.  Let me know what you think!

Whenever I am asked to create a custom piece, I love the challenge just as I enjoyed bringing this vision to life.  For more creative creations visit the website or drop me a line to let me know your specific jewelry needs. It’s always a thrill to create from recycled or found objects so I welcome your challenges.

“D” is for Dare To Be Different

Dare to be different- in your jewelry accessory choices!

Club Creative Studio Art fits right in with my tag line ART THAT SETS YOU APART!  Taking steps to provide an opportunity for others to stand out in a crowd is what I love to do.  Together, we can “Dare to be Different” when we wear, display or give items that are unique, hand-made.  How will you stand out from the billions living in our world?

Having courage to step out of your comfort zone when chosing or wearing statement jewelry is a big step for many.  It is fine if larger, chunky accessories are not your style.  However, if the aim is to use jewelry as accent and focal point wearable art- then being more bold in wearing something unique and eye-catching is the way to go.  Why be ordinary?

I am not talking about wearing jewelry that is strange, gaudy or heavily adorned.  But, those are words that some may use to describe more unique adornments.  To me, daring to be different may mean wearing an occasional change of style or something that may compliment an outfit no matter if it is your particular taste or not.  While it is important to like what you wear, maybe once and a while stepping out of the box to just wear jewelry for the sake of display can be a step in a new direction.

Also, if you tend to wear the same basic jewelry with every outfit, challenge yourself to mix it up. Even if what you change to is a simple look, displaying something different from your normal look is a step forward in the right direction of having a fresh look. Those who know you well will notice the slight change even if you think it is a dramatic twist to your style.

Consider wearing jewelry that has a theme.  Sometimes when you mix up the feel of your jewelry, your attitude changes.

Club Creative Studio Beads combine to make unique jewelry.

Look at your clothing options and decide how your jewelry choices can compliment and contrast your total look. It can be a new style to allow your jewelry to “pop”, demanding attention.  Take a plain dress or top and dress it up with a statement piece of jewelry.  If it is hand-made…you KNOW you have a unique item to be proud of  owning and wearing.

Totally Tubular- Tube Beads

Totally Tubular- Cylindar Beads

Club Creative Studio creates hand-rolled polymer clay beads with excitement. Each hand-made bead and item created with them are unique.

Because Club Creative Studio hand-made beads are each one-of-a-kind, you know that no one in the entire world will have anything like it. Each beaded design has its own personality and unique value.

The Club Creative Studio tube-shaped beads are special because they are presented as a focal bead. Each single clay bead is capped off on each end and has an added accent from a dangle fob at one end and the attached suede cord and clasp at the other.

Colorful and detailed, the tube beads are finished off to be both hand-glossed and non-glossed beads. The simplicity is found in the simple cord strand. The complexity is found in the design details which are made by adding multiple layers of our hand-sliced cane work applications. These beads are festive!
