Begin Here

10 Feb

Be CREATIVE to exercise your CREATIVITY level.  You can do a simple tasks to begin.  Begin where you are.   Literally…right where you are sitting… right now.  Let’s take a minute to do some creative exploring.

Quick Exploration Assignment:

  1. Have in front of you a pencil and a slip of paper (scrap paper is preferred)
  2. Write TEN things that are about where you are sitting right now
  3. Use your senses
  4. Do it quickly
  5. Do not censor
  6. BEGIN

The Point:

Your list should include things that you hadn’t noticed before sitting down in the chair.  The list can become longer as you are able to gain more creative freedom and open up your mind to include your senses.  Yes, you can become more creative right where you are, right where you are sitting.  Try this again from time to time and compare the lists to see if your listings are indeed more creative in thought.  If you struggled to get to the number ten on the first assignment, I am confident that you can only grow in your creative process once you get the hang of thinking in a new and interesting manner.  Best of luck to continue your exercise routines!

“The aspects of things that are most important for us are hidden because of their simplicity and familiarity. One is unable to notice something because it is always before one’s eyes.”

Ludwig Wittgenstein
